'Be careful on December 6', the US Embassy warns of "riots"

" Due to the measures taken in support of the EU-Western Balkans summit in Tirana on Tuesday, road closures and traffic diversions are expected throughout the day in the center of the capital and on the Ring Road. The protests have the potential to spill over into surrounding streets causing traffic jams, diversions and additional road closures.

The summit in Tirana will be the first between the EU and the Western Balkans to take place on the territory of a country in the region that is not in the European bloc. It comes at a time when Russia's war in Ukraine has brought major changes to the international order.

The leaders of the EU are expected to pledge to support and accelerate the process of the expansion of the union, while they are also expected to ask the countries of the region to prove their commitment to common values, orders that will be part of the the so-called "Declaration of Tirana".
