The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, appeared today at the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) for the implementation of the security measure " compulsory appearance ".
At the moment Berisha appeared before the Special Prosecution Office, the Democrats were protesting in front of this institution.
We recall that on January 3 of this year, the Special Court of Appeal for Corruption reinstated the personal security measure "obligation to report to the judicial police" against former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, indicted by SPAK for the criminal offense of passive corruption.
Berisha was released from house arrest on November 27, 2024 by a first-instance decision, but this decision was later overturned by Appeals Judge Engert Pëllumbi.
The latter rejected Berisha's request to terminate the coercive security measure of "house arrest" and replace it with the security measure of "obligation to report to the judicial police".
The court ordered Berisha to appear before judicial police officer Adelajda Metaj at SPAK, on the first and third Monday of each month, at 10:00.
Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has been indicted on the charge of "passive corruption" by the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime, SPAK, and the case has gone to court for review.
Berisha's son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, is also accused of the same criminal offense.
