Prime Minister Edi Rama has expressed condolences on the passing of Haxhi Thaçi, the father of former Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi.

"Father Hashim left proud," Rama wrote on social media.

The president of the New Kosovo Alliance, Behgjet Pacolli, has also expressed condolences for the passing of Haxhi Thaçi, the father of Hashim Thaçi, who is currently in detention in the Kosovo Specialist Chambers (KSCC) of the Special Court.

Pacolli, through a post on the social network 'Facebook', said that Haxhi Thaçi faced one of the greatest challenges.

"He, with great pride, but with a broken heart, faced many unjust challenges such as the imprisonment of his son, knowing that the President is paying with prison for the freedom and our state, which we enjoy today," Pacolli wrote.

He added that, "on behalf of myself and my family, I express my most sincere condolences to the President and the entire Thaçi family for this great loss!"

The Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Vlora Çitaku, also expressed condolences, saying that the memory of Haxhi Thaçi will always remain alive.

"Despite age, pain and illness, his heart beat until the moment his eyes could see his son once again. A testament of love and strength until his last breath. Rest in peace, Haxhi Thaçi. The memory of you will remain alive."

"May the soil of Kosovo be light!", Çitaku wrote on the social network 'Facebook'.

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Enver Hoxhaj, has also expressed condolences for the death of Haxhi Thaci.

"A patriotic man, a man who gave everything to Kosovo – he even gave his son, our President – ​​Hashim Thaçi to Kosovo! May your soul rest in peace, uncle Haxhi!".
