Former Democratic Party MP Keltis Kruja, through a Facebook post, reacted after the vote recount in Tirana, emphasizing that "we all owe a great apology to our tellers, whose work and integrity, intentionally or unintentionally, were called into question."
"Now that the Tirana recount is over, we all owe a huge apology to our enumerators, whose work and integrity, intentionally or unintentionally, were called into question. The girls and boys, women and men who sacrifice every day for what they believe in. Respect," reads Kruja's post.
The recount of all ballot boxes in the Tirana District was closed after 9 days, without any surprises, changing neither the distribution of mandates within political parties nor the mandates between entities.
For two of the members of the Complaints and Sanctions Commission, Koli Bele and Ledio Braho, the process served more to bring transparency, dismissing the candidates' accusations of irregularities in the first count.
The Democrats who requested the recount emerged from the process with 612 fewer votes compared to the initial process, while the SP reduced the result by 380 votes.
With the conclusion of the recount process in Tirana, the opening of ballot boxes will also begin for the Fier and Durrës districts, to verify the first count in these districts as well.
