Nigel Farage, leader of the UK's Reform party, one of the two major right-wing parties, has lashed out at Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, who said Britain is looking for a dumping ground for migrants. Farage said Rama is a hypocrite, having himself negotiated with Italy to take in the refugees.

Farage has launched a scathing attack on Albania's Prime Minister, Edi Rama, demanding that he "take back all his criminals", after the socialist leader criticised Britain after Brexit.

Nigel responded to Rama's comments on GB News by emphasizing that "one in 50 Albanians in Britain is in prison" and calling for their immediate return to Albania.

“The Albanian Prime Minister insults us about Brexit and says Britain is 'in a dark place, looking for places to dump immigrants,'” said Nigel.

He added that Rama claims that “many of the things we say after Brexit have become ‘completely unacceptable, completely ridiculous, completely shameful.’”

Nigel accused Rama of hypocrisy, referring to Albania's own negotiations to accept immigrants from other countries.

“How can he criticize us, when he spent months negotiating with the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni,” Nigel said, referring to discussions about Albania taking in migrants crossing the Mediterranean from Italy.

“He agreed to take in a large number of those migrants crossing the Mediterranean,” Nigel continued, although he admitted that “in the end he didn’t get that many, but he had those negotiations.”

The Reforma leader concluded the attack with a direct challenge to the Albanian prime minister: "I'm telling you, Mr. Rama, did you know that one in 50 Albanians in Britain is in prison? Show some goodwill and take everyone back tomorrow, because this is hypocrisy."

Rama's comments came roughly a month after Prime Minister Keir Starmer visited the Albanian capital, Tirana, to discuss the creation of "return centers" for failed asylum seekers, as part of efforts to curb dinghy crossings across the English Channel.

During that visit, Rama rejected the possibility of Albania accepting one of these centers proposed by Britain, maintaining his position on the issue unchanged.

The Albanian prime minister insisted that his criticism was not specifically aimed at Starmer, whom he described as "a very honest and pleasant person."

Rama revealed that he had previously rejected similar proposals during the governments of Rishi Sunak and Boris Johnson.

"The fact that today is not just imaginable, but is happening, is not because Keir Starmer or Rishi Sunak have done something terrible; it is due to the fact that the country is in a very dark state," Rama explained./ GBnews
