Rama: Albania will open 4 international universities in Fier, Vlora,
Edi Rama

Albania is on the verge of an agreement with a university network in London. In the podcast "Flasim", Prime Minister Rama says that part of the agreement is the opening of a network of universities, specifically a medical university in Fier, a general one in Vlora, one for technology in Korça and another, again general, in Tirana.

Studies at two universities will open during 2027-2028 and at the other two, 2028-2029.

"Most likely, soon, we will sign an agreement with one of the largest university networks in the world, based in London, and part of the agreement is also the joint plan to open the University of Medicine in Fier. The Medical University of Fier will be international, with an international reputation, with Albanian students and from all over the world. We are very close, we have started a discussion process and we have seen a study, a feasibility draft, it is fantastic, but we are waiting for a final study from their side. It is a very large investment that we will make, we will make the infrastructure available, they will bring lecturers, but an important component will also be the selection of Albanian lecturers that they intend to select not only here, but also in the diaspora. It is a pretty ambitious plan. There are 4 universities, there is the University of Fier, a university of excellence for medicine. There is the University of Vlora, the general, the largest of the 4, our ambition is to install it in the center of Vlora, at the Square of "Flamurit, an international university to create new dynamics. Another in Korça for technology and artificial intelligence and the other, General in Tirana. We want to conclude everything within this year and we want to start teaching in 2 of the 4 universities, in the 2027-2028 and 2028-2029 seasons, all four are in operation," said Rama.
