Prime Minister Edi Rama has spoken about his future after leading the government and the Socialist Party, rejecting the possibility of him choosing a successor and even more so interfering in his decision-making.

According to him, the race for the leadership of the SP will open at the right moment and anyone aspiring to this position must build their own career and political figure. Speaking on the podcast "Flasim Shqip" Rama said that he will continue to be a member of the SP, but will not hold any leadership position.

"I personally have no intention of choosing a successor, whoever the successor is, let him or her come forward to take over the PS. I told them when the conversation broke out, don't think about whose turn it is because the race hasn't been opened, but do your best for your career and your image by doing your duty. Then when the moment comes to pass the baton, the baton is passed by leaving and letting things flow freely, as I intend to leave. I will not leave the PS, I will be a member of Surrel's organization and I will stay there, not the head of the organization. I have no intention of getting tangled up in the footsteps of who will be behind me."

Asked if he sees himself in another position, specifically as President of the Republic, Rama said that he wants to deal with other matters, but for now he intends to complete his mandate and the objectives set.

"Why don't I know how to do other things?! I can't wait to do other things, but I can't leave my post without finishing this contract, and I asked for this contract because I see the door to the EU open. Only with the SP can this door be crossed."
