Today, on the National Diaspora Day, the annual meeting of the Diaspora Coordinating Council took place.
Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, were also present.
In his speech, Prime Minister Rama said that the relationship between the Diaspora and the mother country is a dynamic relationship with problems that never end because times change and the interests and connections between the mother country and all its children scattered around the world take different forms in function of time.
Rama: Generations face different challenges and we are witnessing that the world transforms at an ever greater speed that challenges us to adapt. The contribution of refugees to emigration from these 3 decades continues to be constant in our economy.
The head of the government focused on fiscal amnesty and the need to guarantee the formalization of immigrants' income.
Rama: The fiscal amnesty will guarantee the formalization of all income from the work of Albanians in the Diaspora. The informal economy is not only a territory of developing countries like Albania, but it is an area that also exists in developed countries. Black work, cash payments for unregistered work are a constant even in developed countries. We have reasons and occasions to finally take this step which has been wanted for a long time.
