The Albanian government has approved the status of strategic investor Jared Kushner, whose company plans to build a luxury resort on the island of Sazan.
"The planned investment of the "Sazan Island Tourist Resort" of 1.4 billion euros meets the criteria provided for in the legislation for strategic investments," the government's decision to grant the status states.
"The projected investment meets the criteria for the number of jobs as required by the legislation on strategic investments. During the development and operational parts of the investment, the employment of 1,000 people is envisaged," the decision states, reports Balkan Insight.
The government decision states that the project will occupy about 562 hectares, of which about 45 hectares will be developed.
The firm of Donald Trump's son-in-law has been at the center of criticism from foreign media, not only because of its connection to the future American president, but also because its $2 billion fund is a contribution from the Saudis.
Kushner also plans to build a villa resort in Zvernec as well as develop downtown Belgrade with high-rise hotels.
