The government has officially submitted to the Parliament the politically debated agreement with the Arab company Eagle Hills for the investment in the Port of Durrës.

The draft law defines the details of this project, where it is noted that the benefits of the budget will be low, only 2% of the investor's annual turnover.

From the 3.2 billion euros that are expected to reach private income, the government will benefit only 280 million euros after the completion of the project. In the report, it is said that the Albanian state has made available to the Arabs a free land area of ​​812 thousand square meters.

As it has exempted them from the obligation to pay the infrastructure impact tax for new constructions and the social housing contribution, as well as from a number of other taxes from the status of a strategic investor, writes ABC .

The construction of the port of Durrës envisages, in addition to mooring for 280 yachts and boats, the construction of 4,000 apartments, two 5-star hotels and a casino.

Even the business plan initially defined the construction of apartments which will be sold at a value of 1500 to 2000 euros per square meter. 

While the realization of the yacht port will be carried out in the last phase. The financing of the latter will be made possible by the income collected from the sale of the apartments. The Arab company Eagle Hills has planned to invest 160 million euros from the 2.1 billion euros foreseen for this project.
