For several days, dozens of families from Bërxulla in Vorë have come out in protest to oppose the change of the Thumanë-Kashar road project.
They say that in the segment of a little more than 20 kilometers, apart from the planned buildings and other properties, 20 houses were also destroyed.
Residents say that the state institutions have not given them a clear answer on what will be done with them, while some are dissatisfied with the established compensation for land and house expropriations.
They have been protesting for several days, but their voice has been heard by the institutions and almost completely by the opposition. Why is the opposition silent, which has denounced every expropriation of this type by the government, from Shkoza to Astir and 5 May?
What shuts up the Democratic Party this time to speak against the robbery of citizens' property?
One reason could be the company that stands in the middle, Gener 2. This company has taken the construction of this road under concession. In between are at least 1.3 billion euros, which she says she will collect in the business plan that accompanies the project.
As for the investment costs, it has swelled to over 400 million euros, or 20 million euros for one kilometer of road, even though its footprints are mostly on existing roads.
