The State Electoral Commissioner, Ilirjan Celibashi did not register today any of the DP parties in the local elections that will be held on May 14.

According to Celibashi, both parties lacked documentation, while they can appeal the decision to KAS within 3 days.

In his reasoning, Celibashi has assessed that the request of Berisha's side does not stand because according to the court's decision, it is Lulzim Basha who still results as the chairman of the Democratic Party.

Meanwhile, the request of Alibeaj's group was rejected by the Commissioner as it was not signed by President Basha, but by his delegate in this position, which according to Celibash is not legal.

In the meantime, the PD led by Alibeaj wasted no time and filed the complaint with the KAS.

Earlier, Alibeaj accused that some political actors are interested in PD not participating in the elections, while he accused Celibas that he cannot be separated from his personal support for the majority.

"The announced decision of the Commissioner of Elections is clearly politically influenced by political actors interested in DP not being registered in the process of local elections on May 14. As he stated publicly, Mr. Celibashi finds it impossible to separate personal opinions and fandom from legal facts. As a result, his decision prolongs the registration of DP indefinitely and without inherent reasons.

Apparently, and even to the limits of the grotesque, the commissioner started only for political service to the opponents of DP, decides to exclude him from the elections. As it happened here 32 years ago, when it was the party in power that allowed only its satellites in elections. This political nonsense, like 32 years ago, happens to Albania today when it is a NATO country and intends to be a member of the EU!

However, as always, we will follow the legal path to finalize the DP representation on May 14. Any legal artifice or elaborate political and no legal reason is simply the desperate path that extensions of old politics in independent constitutional institutions have chosen to stop us in our tracks. They won't make it ," Alibeaj said.
