The former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, has taken a new and important post, as he is expected to be the head of the negotiating group for the negotiations with the European Union.

Although under investigation by SPAK for the million-euro sterilization affair, Beqaj, who is currently the General Director of the State Agency for Strategic Programming and Aid Coordination, will replace Romina Kuko in this position.

The government has made some changes in the decision on the composition, rules of operation and financial treatment of the negotiating group and the duties of the chief negotiator for the development of the negotiations of Albania's accession to the European Union.

Based on the law on the foreign service, on the creation, organization and functioning of the state structure, responsible for the development of negotiations and the conclusion of the accession treaty of Albania to the European Union, with the proposal of the Minister of State and Chief Negotiator, the Council of Ministers decided that in basis of the decision on the composition, rules of operation and financial treatment of the negotiating group and the duties of the Chief Negotiator for the development of the accession negotiations of the Republic of Albania to the European Union, Romina Kuko, Deputy Minister of the Interior will be replaced by Ilir Beqaj, General Director of State Agency of Strategic Programming and Aid Coordination.

Thus, Ilir Bejtja, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, negotiator responsible for the chapter on energy, leaves this position and Enkelejda Muçaj, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, is appointed in his place.
