For the third day in a row, the Special Court will hold the hearing for the evaluation of the security measure for former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
Sessions have failed for two days in a row, while today is expected to start at 10:00.
Former Prime Minister Berisha has been forced to appear and banned from leaving the country, as he is being investigated for corruption with the privatization of the former Partizani complex.
The day before, the lawyers left the session with the argument that the Court rejected several requests they made, including the exclusion of Judge Irena Gjoka from the trial of the case and the rejection of the request to send the case to the Constitutional Court for the interpretation of the decision on the measure "obligation to appear" for the former prime minister.
Meanwhile, GJKKO appointed lawyer Artan Simoni, paid by the state, to defend Berisha's interests. While he was familiar with the file, Shkëlzen Berisha reacted for the first time after the accusations raised by SPAK about his father, but the text written by him contained an attack on the lawyer. Shkëlzen Berisha published a status on social networks to the lawyer Simoni, who two days ago spoke of "a wounded beast, who made a mistake somewhere", which according to him refers to his father.
In these conditions, at the request of the Prosecution, the Court has decided to remove Simon, as the former prime minister's defense lawyer, replacing him with another lawyer from the list of lawyers mainly and giving him time to familiarize himself with the acts, postponing the decision for today (October 26). Berisha has twice refused to go to the senate to familiarize himself with the security measure.
