German minister's messages from Tirana: There can be no shortcuts to the EU

During his visit to Tirana, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul held talks with senior state officials.

In the meeting with counterpart Elisa Spiropali, Wadephul stated that Berlin strongly supports Albania on its path towards the EU.

He reiterated that the country must implement reforms in the areas of the rule of law, media freedom, and the fight against corruption and organized crime, while adding that there can be no shortcuts to these reforms.

“ It is clear: there can be no shortcuts to these reforms. But if Albania consistently follows this path and intensifies its efforts, the chances of achieving success soon are great. Further reforms must be adopted and implemented consistently, especially in the areas of the rule of law, media freedom, and the fight against corruption and organized crime ,” said Johann Wadephul.
