At the joint meeting between the two Assemblies, the Speaker of the Parliament of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, thanked Albania for its support, while also focusing on relations with Serbia.
Konjufca said that Serbia is aiming to destabilize Kosovo, while recalling the attack on the Ibër Lepenc water canal, but also the attack in Banjska a year ago.
Konjufca said that there can be no normalization of relations without mutual recognition and expressed his conviction that it will happen with Albania at his side.
" We have gathered in this joint session of the Assemblies to demonstrate our unity in the face of the political, geopolitical and security challenges that accompany our region this year. In two months, it will be three years since Russia's unprovoked aggression against Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. We as a region and Kosovo have felt the direct and indirect impacts of this aggression. Kosovo is also closing this year under direct attack by elements linked to Serbia and who are aiming to destabilize Kosovo internally with terrorist and hybrid warfare methods. The attack on Ibër Lepenc cannot be considered otherwise than as a terrorist attack by those who refuse to accept Kosovo as a sovereign reality and a legal and democratic order. Let us not forget that this serious attack on our critical water and energy supply infrastructure comes 1 year after another serious attack in Banjska. The organizer of this attack is Radoićić, directly supported by Vučić, and still remains unpunished by justice in Serbia, which is almost non-existent. This unity of ours today in this session of our two assemblies. Kosovo and Albania are with each other, in every circumstance and without any conditions. Since we cannot represent anything other than the national interest for the nation that is common to us. I had the honor to lead this institution, and the Albanian Assembly is also almost at the end of its mandate. I can say that as an Assembly we have had excellent cooperation and we have raised interparliamentary cooperation to a new level. We aim for the same family, Albania has moved forward on the path of integration and its lessons will be important for us despite the absurd measures that the EU has imposed on it. Kosovo remains a champion of democracy in the region and we should all be proud of this as a people. Albanians have always been the most natural ally of Western values in the Balkans, we thank Albania for being vocal in protecting Kosovo's interests, for protecting Kosovo's speed in the international arena, in every important forum in the world, and that Kosovo's right to protect its sovereignty and integrity cannot be considered a violation of good neighborliness. It is Serbia that does not even accept our neighbor status. There can be no normalization of relations between our two countries without mutual recognition as two sovereign entities that do not dispute each other. This is the only solution for the relationship between Kosovo and Serbia, and this can happen because we have Albania on our side ," said Konjufca.
