The head of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, denounced today in the Parliament the government's decision to build the Roskovec power plant, initiated by the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku.

According to Bardhi, this decision was made in a complete lack of transparency and without listening to the concerns of the residents of the area where Balluku was delegated as political leader of the Socialist Party.

"Yesterday, two ministers came out and reported on the decisions that the Council of Ministers had approved on December 18, and the only decision that was not reported was this secret decision-making, without any transparency and without any consultation with the residents, for the construction of a power plant in a residential area."

Focusing on the consequences it brings to the environment, the impact on agricultural products and the health of the residents of the area, Bardhi emphasized the opposition and continuous protests of citizens against this project.

"The colleagues who are here from the Fier region know very well that this is one of the hardest-working areas in the Republic of Albania. An area that has 700 hectares of greenhouses built with sweat and labor. And suddenly they learn that a power plant will be built in the middle of the village with harmful consequences for the environment, agricultural products, the health and lives of the residents of the area, putting their future and that of their children in question," said Bardhi.

Bardhi called on Balluk to go listen to the residents of the area and hold them accountable.
