The Speaker of the Assembly, Elisa Spiropali reacted after the statement of the US Embassy in Tirana regarding the non-submission of Olta Xhaçka's mandate to the Constitutional Court.

Spiropali says the constitutional decision needs clarification, so he has addressed the Venice Commission with a letter. Spiropali promises that the majority will act as soon as the venice commission's opinion comes.

Deklarata e Spiropalit:

I fully believe that the implementation of constitutional court decisions by parliament is a fundamental issue, as it relates to institutional checks and balances in the country's democratic system.

I also stressed during the opening session of the Parliamentary session last week, as a priority the need for the Assembly to follow the remaining decisions of the Constitutional Court. Yesterday's vote demonstrated that the constitutional court's decision of a year and a half ago and last of July 2024, needs the clarification that has been required for so long.

In order to make this clarification and to end the uncertainty that accompanied the Assembly, on the way to implement the decision, I immediately addressed the Venice Commission today as an instance with unquestionable prestige and competence. Once we receive the relevant opinion from the Venice Commission, we will act on that opinion without losing a single more day.
