DP MP Dhurata Çupi has reacted after the catastrophic defeat of the opposition in the local elections of May 14.
In a post on social networks, Çupi writes that the Democratic Party received the fruits of the division on Sunday. According to her, despite the defeat, the opposition leadership has no intention of sounding the alarm bells.
The democratic deputy states that the message of the election result is clear, where divided are lost. She further adds that the majority of voters are no longer represented by this opposition, they do not trust this opposition.
The democratic deputy calls that the current leadership of the opposition, in both camps, should be withdrawn and give way to reconciliation through a new political project and through people who can reawaken confidence in the silent electorate.
According to her, divided, with anger, with revenge, with terrible accusations against each other will end even worse.
Full reaction:
We got the fruits of almost 2 years of discord on Sunday. Defeat in the bastions, heavy losses in most of the municipalities.
Thousands of democrats stayed at home without trusting any opposition party. Thousands of other citizens dissatisfied with the government did not find representation in any of the opposition logos.
Unfortunately, I understand that the opposition leadership has no intention of heeding the alarm bells. The message is clear: Separated we are lost! The message should be read: The majority of voters are no longer represented by this opposition, they do not trust this opposition.
Democrats, Albanians should no longer sacrifice themselves for anyone's personal interests. The current opposition leadership, in both camps, must step aside and give way to reconciliation through a new political project and through people who can reawaken confidence in the silent electorate, the only body that can bring the opposition to power.
It's time to give way to reason! Divided, with anger, with revenge, with terrible accusations against each other, we will end up even worse!
