Journalist Elona Meço described the elections held on May 14 as silent. Meço writes that the Albanians were silent in these elections by not going to vote.

Comparing the numbers of the last elections in April 2021, she writes that 1.66 million voters participated in the elections, while in Sunday's elections the number of voters is 1.36 million.

Meço says that 250,000 fewer voters in 2 years is a political disaster.

"There will be many who will say that these people emigrated, but Tirana rejects this theory. A small part may have left. Others have spoken in silence. Contrary to the president's story, the silence of almost 1/6 of active Albanian voters is rejection. Certainly not for the government. What she has is enough for her", emphasizes Meço.

There was once a president in Albania who, when he wanted to convey the message that he did not agree with a government law, but had nothing to do, let the 21-day deadline for the President's review pass and the law was called approved. When the president in question was asked about this attitude, he said that he spoke with his silence. And he has spoken quite a few times with silence. This is what many Albanians did in these elections. They are silent by not going to vote.

Now let's look at the numbers that speak of silence. Numbers are not like breath. They don't lie. In the last elections, April 2021, 1.66 million voters took part in the elections, while in Sunday's elections the number of voters (so far) is 1.36 million. The problem with this official data is that 100 VCs are missing. I don't understand why the CEC doesn't update the final attendance, but that's another matter.

So the difference with the last election, without the 100 boxes, is 300,000 voters. When they are calculated accurately, I believe that this figure will fluctuate in the final, according to my generous calculations, to 250 thousand voters less than in 2021. To further the analysis of the numbers. 1/3 of these voters who did not go to vote belong to Tirana municipality. There are 77,000 fewer voters than in 2021, although the number of voters on the voter list this time was 20,000 more.
