EU leaders will gather today for a two-day summit in Brussels.

Prime Minister Rama together with the leaders of Serbia and Northern Macedonia, Vucic and Kovacevski have confirmed their participation following positive signals from Bulgaria.

But what is expected to happen at the Summit?

Albania and Northern Macedonia are very close to the long-awaited decision to approve the negotiating framework.

This negotiating framework has so far had the support of 26 member states, but not Bulgaria, which has suspended it due to bilateral issues with Northern Macedonia mainly on the rights of Bulgarian citizens in Northern Macedonia, as well as other issues of related to the history, language and identity between the two countries. But recently in Bulgaria a compromise has been reached on the French proposal for the negotiating framework of Northern Macedonia with Bulgaria.

At the EU summit in Brussels, European leaders are expected to sign last week's European Commission recommendation to grant Ukraine and Moldova candidate status.

As for the Western Balkans, EU leaders are also expected to express the bloc's full and clear commitment to the region's prospect of membership in the bloc and call for speeding up the membership process.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel will hold a press conference at the end of the meeting between the 27 leaders of the European Union and the 6 leaders of the Western Balkans.
