Briseida Çakërri is the youngest member of the Albanian Parliament, representing the Vlora district.
She was sworn in on October 30, replacing Bruna Mersini, who ran for and won the position of mayor of Vlora.
Her journey into politics has not been quick, but built on years of dedication, activity, and passion for her citizens and country.
In an interview with DritareTv, Çakërri recounted the emotions of the moment he was sworn in to parliament, Briseida says that the experience in parliament is very different from what is seen from the outside.
In the May 11 elections, she ranked 11th out of 16 SP candidates in the Vlora district, receiving 2,610 votes in Albania and 38 in the diaspora, a total of around 3,000 votes.
Briseida recalls her early political activity, which began in childhood: “ I was only six years old when I first participated in protests in 1997. Since then, politics has been part of my life. I was an activist in Fresh, then the president of the neighborhood organization and then for the region .”
Asked about Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and Sali Berisha, she said: " Edi Rama is one of the strongest figures in Albanian politics and will leave a strong mark in Albania. Sali Berisha, meanwhile, is there to protect his own interests, not those of the people."
