The Socialist presidential candidate Bajram Begaj has demanded his resignation as Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Minister of Defense. However, this procedure also includes the current head of state, Ilir Meta, who must make the release, as he is the General Command of the Armed Forces.

At the meeting of the parliamentary group, the leader of the socialist parliamentary group Taulant Balla said that there is only 90 minutes for Meta to release Begaj from the post in the Armed Forces and thus continue his journey to the Presidency to succeed him. The fear of the socialists is s emos Meta blocks it as in the case of many decrees but Balla said that they have considered the solution if Meta creates a stalemate in this process.

"The candidate has submitted his request to resign from duty so it is an important aspect but in the relevant legislation the law on the Armed Forces the military must resign before being appointed or elected. This procedure will include within the next hours the current president who must make the release. This I think should not be the next battle. We have also thought of a way to resolve if there is a stalemate with the president ", said Balla.

We recall that at the meeting of the Presidency yesterday, the Socialists proposed Bajram Begaj for the new president of the country. His candidacy will be submitted at 12:00 in the Assembly with 20 supporting signatures, as provided by the Constitution. While at 18:00 a special session will be held in the Assembly to vote.
