Today, Shkëlzen Berisha appeared for the first time before SPAK prosecutors to answer his connection with the Gërdec tragedy, where 26 innocent citizens lost their lives.

Berisha, after leaving the premises of SPAK , stopped to give a short statement to the media, stating that he had been called to be questioned by the prosecutor of the Gërdec case, Klodian Braho .

In his speech, the son of the chief democrat said that SPAK should investigate who did the calligraphy of the document being investigated, and he also emphasized that he is impressed by how the same prosecutor 15 years ago did not consider it reasonable to summon his to testify. The name of Shkëlzen Berisha was mentioned not only in the media, but also in a letter where it was written "for Shkëlzen Berisha" before the "Gërdec" tragedy.

What was the document?

An ordinary handwriting, on an official letter of the Ministry of Justice, is suspected to have been the thread of a series of procedures for the construction of the factory in Gërdec. The much talked about document in the political circles of Tirana and in the Parliament of Albania, is suspected to be a fax sent from the office of the former minister Aldo Bumçi and which bears the note: "for Shkëlzen Berisha" on the side of the letter.

The document signed by Bumçi at the time, allegedly approved the legal move to justify the dismantling of weapons in Gërdec and was addressed to the Minister of Defense at that time, Fatmir Mediu.

Investigation and denial

Summoned by SPAK as a person with knowledge, a few weeks ago Aldo Bumçi stopped for a long time at this document that cast doubts on him, on the side of which was written the name of Shkëlzen Berisha, the son of former Prime Minister Berisha at that time.

Bumçi denied that the note was real and accused that it was forged, since the handwriting is not his. Requesting an investigation of the calligraphy in this case, the former minister stated that the chronology of the event does not match the documents.
