MPs return to sessions, current Parliament in office until July 8
Parliament of Albania

The May 11 elections produced 140 new members of the Albanian Parliament, but the work will continue until July with the current composition. The next session is expected to take place next week and, according to the official calendar, parliamentary work will continue until July 8.

During this transitional period, the Assembly will receive the annual reports of all public institutions, from constitutional ones to independent agencies. This is a key moment to take stock of their activities before the current legislature, before handing over the baton to the new deputies in September.

According to the Constitution of Albania, the new Parliament must convene no later than 10 days after the end of the mandate of the previous legislature. Given that the mandate of the current Parliament ends on September 9, 2025, the first session of the new Parliament is expected to take place by September 19.

In this first session, the new deputies will take the oath and the new Speaker of the Assembly will be elected, marking the official start of Albania's thirty-second legislature.
