Taulant Balla commented on the incident of Prime Minister Edi Rama in a press conference where he "sentenced" journalist Klevi Muka to 3 months of non-participation.

In a statement to the media from the Presidency of the Assembly, Balla stated that this case has nothing to do with the freedom of the media. He also drew attention to the case when former President Donald Trump interrupted the CNN journalist during the press conference.

"To tell you the truth, there is media freedom in Albania. Because the fact that we have such a great diversity, if we were to compare how many media outlets we have in Albania compared to other countries, we have more. All these recommendations should be seen in a wider and regional context. It happened from the time when Donald Trump demanded the removal of the speech of a CNN reporter at the press conference. We all agree that the USA is the best model of media freedom and democracy.

I have studied the model of American democracy. Naturally, the fact that you raise has nothing to do with media freedom. It is a matter of communication when we come together to discuss an important issue. The occasion of that day was a big thing, a NATO military base in Albania. And from this they move on to another matter. You are experts in this field, I do not want to enter your task. Public communication is an obligation" , said Balla.
