The famous Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio has reacted again after the announcement of Prime Minister Edi Rama to declare the area along the course of the Vjosa river as a natural park.
DiCaprio has posted a video on social networks, announcing that "the Albanian government is just one step away from declaring Vjosa a National Park".
The Government of Albania is one step closer to declaring Europe's first wild river National Park, having recently partnered with Patagonia to protect the Vjosa River – an effort that includes the #SavetheBlueHeartofEurope campaign.
Albania's Vjosa River is the largest wild river in Europe. The river and its tributaries flow untamed from the source to the sea, creating a biodiverse ecosystem that covers over 300 km. It is home to 1,100 animal species, including 13 globally threatened animals and two plant species ," writes Leonardo di Caprio.
A few days ago, during the news about the declaration of Vjosa as a national park, Prime Minister Edi Rama mocked the protesters against the construction of dams on the river, which is considered the only one with an uninterrupted flow in Europe, and called on DiCaprio to react to the good news.
