As long as the Democratic Party continues to be divided, the small opposition parties have started talks to realize a pre-election agreement for May 14. So far, the discussions are between Dashamir Shehi's LZHK, Nisma Thurrjen and Astri Patozi's Democratic Obedience.
In an interview for Report TV, Patozi from 'Bindja' said that they are targeting the Municipal Councils, but if the opposition pole will be even bigger, the expectations for results will be even higher. He said that this is a preparation for the upcoming parliamentary elections, which he considers more important.
"Several political forces that have similarities can join their forces and run with a joint list aiming at the municipal councils, and not finding an agreement with the DP parties to have both the aim and the majority. To regroup to give another offer different from the Forum or the other opposing party, and more than in these elections will be more important. We are in discussions for this coalition to be ready as soon as possible. We find common points with LZHK and the 'Knitting Initiative' and we can compete and find an important result, paving the way for another opposition pole that neither the government nor the opposition trusts. If we reach an agreement, our expectations will rise and surely the result will be significant., said Patozi.
He also commented on the "war" within the Democratic Party, saying the best solution would be for the two parties, that of Sali Berisha and Enklejd Alibeaj, to separate. This is a difficult solution, but according to him, it is the best, as long as the parties do not have any common interests.
"To separate in a civilized way, unfortunately this modest advice was not taken into account and DP is delaying its own agony and damaging beyond itself, but also the entire opposition. Both parts of the DP are following a wrong line, the right line would be that they, reflecting on the fact that their interests do not match, should be divided civilly, they don't seem to want it and are throwing it at each other burden of responsibility and benefit from each other. I think they entered a wrong course, I don't want to say who is more right" , added Patozi.
As the former leader of the Parliamentary group of the DP, who knows the party well, he sees it as an impossible mission for Berisha to repeat himself, considering it a bad example that should not be followed, while the Freedom Party is not does not consider it a factor at all.
"There is no chance for Berisha to repeat himself, it is difficult for him to unite the DP and then to unite the opposition vectors, it is an impossible mission. (...) The Freedom Party seems very weak to me, it is condemned to continue its journey with the platform that they have common problems and interests, I don't think that can be a factor", concluded Patozi.
In the end, he also commented on the departures from the Democratic Party, saying that they made this decision because they see no light at the end of the tunnel for a merger.
