DP MP Gazment Bardhi has today informed his colleagues of the parliamentary group of Alibeaj about the talks he is holding with Edi Paloka, as a representative of the negotiations for the introduction of two parties of the DP with a common candidate in the local elections of May 14 2023.

Sources from the meeting of the parliamentary group indicate that Bardhi has informed them that he has so far presented several proposals, while he has not received any of them from Berisha's group.

Also, he has stated that there is no movement from the idea of ​​recognizing the primaries and their Statute. Bardhi distributed the draft proposal he made in writing to his colleagues.

"Until now I do not have an answer, but in principle I have been told that it is difficult to accept", said Bardhi.

It should be noted that the majority of MPs have requested that Bardhi publicly declare immediately after the meeting, the rejection of the other side and the end of the talks, since according to them it is clear that the other side wants to delay the solution and decide before the fact.

"Understanding your concern, dear colleagues, please give me another 24 hours to make one last effort to find ways of cooperation", Bardhi is said to have said. For this reason, the meeting of the Parliamentary Group has been postponed until tomorrow at 15:00.

PRINCIPLES FOR COOPERATION BETWEEN DEMOCRATS IN THE LOCAL ELECTIONS OF MAY 14, 2023

Based on the internal situation of the Democratic Party of Albania, which has brought a clash of opinions and thoughts on various issues;

With the sole aim of unifying every opposition voice in the local elections and representing them in these elections with only one common winning candidate for mayor and a unified list of Democratic Party candidates for the municipal council;

The following is agreed upon:

1. Differences in opinions and positions on various issues within the Democratic Party should not prevent the cooperation of Democrats at the local level for local elections. For this purpose, while respecting everyone's opinion on the various developments and issues within the Democratic Party, we commit to create the necessary spirit of cooperation and victory of the local elections by the Democratic Party, interrupting and condemning any attack, defamation or hate speech against the opinion otherwise within the party.

2. The establishment of the Political Steering Council at the central level and at the level of each local unit, with the main responsibility of creating the spirit of cooperation between the democrats and guaranteeing the victory of the Democratic Party. The Political Steering Council ensures equal comprehensive representation at the central and local level, and is responsible for guaranteeing the implementation of these principles of cooperation. The composition of the Political Steering Council at the central level is determined with understanding and a consensual spirit.

3. Përzgjedhjen e një kandidati përbashkët fitues që përfaqëson gjithë Partinë Demokratike të Shqipërisë dhe çdo zë opozitar në njësitë përkatëse vendore. Përzgjedhja e kandidatit të përbashkët fitues për kryetar bashkie bëhet me “sistem pikëzimi” dhe shpallet nga Këshilli Drejtues Politik. Në këtë sistem përfshihen 50 % e pikëve nga votimi sipas parimit “një anëtar / 1 votë” dhe 50 % e pikëve nga “vrojtimi i opinionit të gjerë publik” nëpërmjet sondazheve. Pas konsultimit dhe marrjes së propozimeve nga anëtar të Partisë Demokratike apo flukse të tjera opozitare, kandidatët që përfshihen në procesin e vlerësimit propozohen nga Këshilli Drejtues Politik në nivel vendor dhe miratohen me unanimitet nga Këshilli Drejtues Politik në nivel qendror. Rregullat e detajuara për zbatimin e “sistemit të pikëzimit” përcaktohen me unanimitet në Këshillin Drejtues Politik në nivel qendror brenda një jave nga nënshkrimi i këtij dokumenti. 6. The election campaign is led by the candidate for Mayor in each local unit, in cooperation with the Political Steering Council, which constitutes the Headquarters of the Election Campaign at the central and local level.
Representatives of other opposition parliamentary parties join the Political Steering Council at the central and local level after their constitution.
