From Berlin, where he has held several intensive meetings with German officials for two days, Gazment Bardhi stressed that Albania needs a new government to work towards European standards and the country's integration into the EU.
The head of the DP Parliamentary Group emphasized that the SP is obstructing justice by protecting corrupt officials, such as the case of Belinda Balluku, adding that free and fair elections are necessary to enable rotation and have a government at the service of citizens.
"Albania needs to implement European standards in the country, not only in words, but in deeds. Unfortunately, the Socialist Party has shown through actions that it obstructs justice and protects high-ranking officials involved in corruption. This hinders the integration process. Therefore, change is needed. We need free and fair elections, to have a responsible government that works for European standards and Albania's integration into the EU," the Democrat MP said, among other things.
Gazment Bardhi's reaction:
Two intense days in Berlin, with busy meetings together with colleagues Jorida Tabaku and Klevis Balliu.
The meetings began with the rapporteur for Albania in the Bundestag and will continue with the Chairman of the Committee on European Affairs, the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and a large number of MPs.
Then, the agenda continues in the federal government, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the Minister of State for European Affairs.
While in Albania the opposition is excluded by a majority that controls all institutions, in Berlin its voice is heard with respect and attention.
Albania needs to implement European standards at home, not just in words, but in deeds. Unfortunately, the Socialist Party has shown through its actions that it obstructs justice and protects high-ranking officials involved in corruption.
This hinders the integration process. That is why change is needed. We need free and fair elections, to have a responsible government that works for European standards and Albania's integration into the EU.
Endless gratitude to all colleagues and authorities here in Germany for the welcome and open discussion.
I hope that for Albania and Albanians, the integration process moves forward with a responsible government that works for the public interest.
Greetings from Berlin.
