As announced, the Council of Ministers has approved several changes to gatherings.

The legal changes include everything from places where gatherings are not allowed to fines for violators.

Amendments approved today

-On some additions and amendments to Law No. 8773, dated 23.4.2001, “On Assemblies”.

The law establishes temporary restrictions around designated objects, where protected areas are:

a) stations, terminals and public transport vehicles, ports and airports;

b) the perimeter around educational and health institutions and cultural heritage sites;

c) other areas designated by a decision of the municipal council, published and marked on the ground, when repeated crimes against persons or property have been documented there.

-When messages containing calls for violence are forwarded, published or distributed through social networks, e-mail and/or telephone communications, in the context of the organization or holding of a gathering, the State Police requests the deletion of the content, as well as the non-repetition of such actions, notifying that they constitute a violation of the legislation in force.

The measures for administrative offenses have also changed, with penalties starting from 10,000 (ten thousand) to 500,000 (five hundred thousand) lekë.
