Mir Bruli , the businessman from Velipoja and owner of the "Ara e Vjetër" tourist resort, has been transported from Fier prison to a QSUT hospital in Tirana, where he is expected to undergo heart surgery.
According to preliminary information, Brruli is in serious health condition and under the strict care of doctors.
Mir Bruli was arrested on May 17, 2024 in Velipojë, during an operation conducted by order of the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK), where 50 arrest warrants were issued in several cities in the country.
On April 29 of this year, he was sentenced to 9 years in prison by the Criminal Court of Kosovo, with a reduced sentence of 6 years, while the final decision of the Criminal Court of Kosovo's appeal has not yet been issued.
The 58-year-old was found guilty of transporting several citizens suspected of being involved in criminal activity illegally from Montenegro to Albania.
Bruli is a relative of businessman Pëllumb Gjoka, arrested in the context of the case known as "Metamorphosis".
The Special Court found Pëllumb Gjoka guilty of providing the conditions for the murder of two people and sentenced him to 6 years, while former police officer Ardit Hasanbegaj was sentenced to 5 years in prison.
Meanwhile, Gjoka is facing a second trial in the Special Court along with two other citizens on charges of murdering Gjin Ndoj (Borić), as well as providing the conditions for the murder of other people.
The investigation against Gjoka and other defendants began after the arrival of a file from France with data obtained from encrypted Sky ECC applications.
He and other members of the group face nine types of criminal charges, including murder, active corruption, and money laundering, committed within the framework of a structured criminal group.
