Qamile Marra has celebrated her 117th birthday. Together with her family, who wish her to live to be 200 years old, she is enjoying her days in this private residence in the village of Ferras, Berat.
The family's appeal is to secure a special pension for this woman, who is without a doubt the oldest in Albania.
Today, Qamilja lives under the care of her son, who is in his 80s. Although he is also at an advanced age and has his own health problems, his effort to serve his 117-year-old mother is an extraordinary testament to devotion and filial love. These days, she is living with her son Hysen and his daughter-in-law, Raimen.
Currently, she has no illness and does not take any medication. Although her son tries to be there for her every need, the vitality of the 117-year-old mother remains the pillar of that family environment. For him, the important thing is the fact that his mother enjoys health and does her own chores.
Although she enjoys excellent health and rare energy, the challenges of living and daily costs remain. Her son finds it impossible to cover all his living needs with just a regular pension of 9,400 lek.
For this reason, the family and mother Qamilja herself are asking institutions and the state to provide a larger special pension.
For the daughter-in-law of the family, caring for and living with a 117-year-old mother-in-law is both a responsibility and a great blessing. She shows that mother Qamilja is not just present in the house, but is still active and unwavering.
The main foods consumed by the family are poultry and dairy products provided by the family itself.
Beyond any expectations for such an age, mother Qamilja refuses to sit idly by. Her daily routine would surprise anyone, she gets up every morning, takes the broom to sweep the yard and takes care of the chickens with dedication.
The 117-year-old has raised 7 children, worked in agriculture, and seen the livelihood of 5 generations of her family.
Although Qamila's mother's health is admirable, economic difficulties at home are indeed present. Her two main caregivers, her son and daughter-in-law, are themselves of advanced retirement age and are finding it difficult to meet all the family's daily expenses.
For this reason, the family publicly requests from the state and relevant institutions to grant a larger special pension to the 117-year-old./ Klan News
