Despite the pandemic and two major recessions, the number of cars on our planet is growing unstoppably. Can you guess how many cars are currently driving on Earth's roads?
Even 14 years ago there was talk of millions and today this number has increased drastically. Part of the reason goes to ever-increasing necessity, but perhaps the biggest boost to car growth has been provided by the Chinese market. If we count all the cars currently driving the globe, old and new, we will arrive at an incredible 1.47 billion copies.
This estimate is based on data from Hedges & Company, and also reveals to us how these cars are distributed across continents and even countries themselves, writes The Drive.
If you thought North America is still the leader with the most cars, you're wrong.
The first place goes to China with 415 million cars registered in 2022 and precisely thanks to China, the winner among the continents is Asia with 543 million cars in total.
After Asia comes Europe with 413 million cars. Next is the turn of North America with 358 million cars, of which 78% belong to the USA.
