President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Ukraine will not accept any serious peace deal agreed between the US and Russia without Kiev's involvement.

Zelensky further stated that it is important that things do not go according to Putin's plan and said that he wants to do everything to hold bilateral negotiations with the US. Zelensky added that he has not discussed NATO with Trump, but he knows that the US does not want Ukraine to become a member.

Zelensky's comments came after US President Donald Trump had a 90-minute phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday.

Trump said he and Putin had agreed that talks to end the war in Ukraine would begin immediately. Meanwhile, it was reported that the leaders had invited each other to visit their capitals.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Zelensky also had an hour-long phone conversation with Trump. Zelensky said they agreed to maintain further contact and plan future meetings.
