The 56-year-old Greek cattle farmer shot his 11-month-old baby and his partner in the back with a shotgun, and then himself. According to the doctor who performed the forensic examination, the mother and the child died instantly.
"The baby was shot in the left shoulder and had damage to the lungs and liver," explained the doctor.
According to the doctor's data, the baby was shot with small pellets for poultry, while the 31-year-old German woman was shot with large pellets for wild boar.
Regarding the distance from where the victims were shot, he explains that it was close to about two to three meters.
"I have been doing forensic expertise for forty years, it is rare to see how an 11-month-old baby is killed in such cold blood," he said.
The 56-year-old cattle farmer was buried on Saturday, but no one from the village, not even his father, attended the burial.
A resident said that she had met the 31-year-old German a day before the murder.
"We are sad about what happened. If we knew they had problems we would have done something to prevent this from happening. Neither he nor his partner said anything. I was with her wife and child, the night before the murder, we played and laughed, but she never told me anything like that, about the separation", said Irini Kastanidis.
As for the 56-year-old's children from a previous relationship, the relative confessed: "His son and daughter will come to the village to take care of the goats and sheep. We called them to come. They knew about the funeral but did not come. The children did not have a good relationship with their father, as I asked about family matters."
