The war in Ukraine

Ukraine says it has regained control of the key town of Lyman in the eastern part of the country, which is occupied by Russian troops.

The recapture of this city by Ukrainian troops took place on Saturday, a day after Russian President Putin announced the annexation of 4 regions in Ukraine, including Donetsk, where Lyman is located.

"Dear Ukrainians, today the Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated and took control of the settlement of Lyman in the Donetsk region," one of the Ukrainian soldiers can be heard saying in a video recording, Reuters reports.

Ukrainian soldiers throw down some of the Russian flags and raise the Ukrainian flag.

According to Ukraine, in the last 24 hours there have been 29 attacks by warplanes from its side, destroying weapons and missile systems of Russia.

While Russian forces carried out 16 airstrikes using Iranian-made drones to attack infrastructure.
