Fears that Russia could use atomic weapons in its war in Ukraine are growing.
The Russian nuclear-powered submarine "Belgorod" is moving in the Arctic seas and there is a suspicion that its mission is to test the "Poseidon" torpedo missile, capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
The strike radius is ten thousand kilometers. This is stated in a NATO report, cited by the Italian media "La Repubblica", according to which the Alliance is on alert and is monitoring any possible launch of missiles from the submarine.
Russia's combat vehicle "Belgorod", 184 meters long and 15 meters wide, can navigate underwater at about sixty kilometers per hour and with practically unlimited autonomy. It is believed that it can stay 120 days without returning to the surface.
It comes after Chechen leader and hard-line ally of Moscow, Ramzan Kadyrov, asked President Vladimir Putin to consider using low-yield nuclear weapons in response to Russian military losses in eastern Ukraine.
In recent hours, Putin's troops are reported to have withdrawn from the strategic city of Liman in Donetsk, one of four partially occupied regions of Ukraine that Russia claims it is annexing. President Volodymyr Zelensky said that after placing the flag in that territory, he will liberate all of Donbas.
He warned Russian soldiers: get away from Putin and disobey his orders, or you will all be killed, one by one. Meanwhile, bombings have been reported again in Zaporizhia, while there are also fights in other areas in the east and south of Ukraine. Kiev has also made a final assessment of the war and announces that since February 24, it has eliminated about 60 thousand Russian soldiers.
