The ex-soldier of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Hasan Dakaj, who was arrested by the Serbian authorities on Friday at the border point in Merdara, has been given a one-month detention in Serbia.

This was confirmed by the family's lawyer, Xhevdet Smakiqi, as he added that the right to appeal will be exercised.

"He is in Belgrade in the detention center, they sent him from Kushumli. "Late last night, I received information from the lawyer appointed by the Serbian state that he was ordered to be detained for 30 days and now he has filed a complaint," Smakiqi declared.

The Serbian Prosecutor's Office claims that Dakaj committed war crimes as a 19-year-old in 1999.

Dakaj was going to Italy after the liberalization of visas, and he decided to go through Serbia together with his brother.
