In an interview with the New York Post, immediately after returning from Paris, newly elected US President Donald Trump referred to the conversation he had with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the official dinner hosted for leaders by Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace.
"We talked for a long time, it's a real source of energy, I assure you, it's fantastic ," Trump said of Meloni.
"We're doing well ," the US President is quoted as saying, adding that the group of world leaders at the reopening of the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral, 5 years after the devastating fire, was a "similar group" to the one four years ago when he was at the helm of the White House, stressing that he hoped they could "fix the world a little bit."
According to the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Giorgia Meloni had the opportunity to speak with Donald Trump three times.
The first among them was a brief discussion, held in the presence of both the French president and the president of Georgia, Salome Zourabishvili.
"The second, a little later, together with Elon Musk and the third, at the end of the official dinner at the Elysee, with glasses of red wine on the table," writes La Repubblica.
Meanwhile, the Italian Prime Minister, in her online post, underlined that the meeting with Trump "was a pleasant opportunity for dialogue."
