Suspected perpetrator of American businessman's murder arrested,
The alleged perpetrator of the Manhattan murder

A man suspected of being the perpetrator of the murder of American businessman Brian Thompson was arrested today in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

Fox News reports that a person matching the suspect's description has been arrested at a McDonald's.

The person has a gun similar to the one used in the shooting last Wednesday, which killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Thompson was shot multiple times in the back by a masked man with a silenced pistol moments before he was due to attend an investor conference. The FBI is also investigating the killing.

A former New York Police Department official previously told American media that the perpetrator had made many mistakes, leaving marks in several places.

The alleged perpetrator made the "fatal mistake" when he flirted with a random woman in a store before committing the murder. She reportedly told him, "You have a very beautiful smile," as he lowered his mask and laughed. The moment exposed his face to the camera.
