"Extraordinary"/ The flag of Russia's enemy flies in the middle
The Syrian opposition flag was flying in Moscow today

The Syrian opposition flag was flying in Moscow today, following the fall of Bashar Al Assad's regime.

"It is 'extraordinary' to see the Syrian opposition flag flying at the Syrian Embassy in Moscow, considering it represents the very forces that Russia has been trying to destroy for almost a decade," says Sky News Moscow correspondent Ivor Bennett.

There has still been no sighting of Bashar al-Assad since the uprising, but the Kremlin has issued "secret comments" suggesting that reports that he has been granted asylum in Russia were accurate.

“This would not be a surprise, given that Moscow has done so much in the last decade to keep him in power,” Bennett said.

"What is certain is that he is not in the Syrian embassy," he added.
