The suspected killer of the "CEO" in New York is a young ITALIAN,
Luigi Mangione

The person of interest arrested in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson is an Ivy League-educated anti-capitalist, US media report.

He liked online quotes from "Unabomber" Ted Kaczynski and apparently hated the medical community because of the way it treated his sick relative, sources told The Washington Post.

He is Luigi Mangione, 26, of Towson, Maryland, who has not been charged but was arrested Monday morning at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania, after an intensive search following the cold-blooded execution of Thompson outside a Manhattan hotel last week.

The former honors student was caught with a gun, a silencer, four fake IDs with names used during his stay in New York City - and a manifesto, sources told the American newspaper.

The manifesto criticized the US healthcare industry, including its huge profits and alleged criminal motives.

Mangione had a particularly personal reason for hating the medical community over his treatment of a sick relative, sources said.

Online obituaries show that he lost a grandmother in 2013 and a grandfather in 2017.

His LinkedIn page shows that he once worked at an assisted living facility for the elderly for a few months in 2014, while he was still in high school.
