An order to declassify documents related to the assassinations of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, his brother Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King was signed by Donald Trump this Thursday.

This was one of Trump's pre-election promises, which he implemented by signing an executive order as part of a "storm" of executive orders in the first days of his term.

The three assassinations, in 1963 and two in 1968, shocked the US, while that of President John Kennedy created conspiracy theories about who, how, and why planned the assassination of a popular president.

On Wednesday, Trump had said he intended to declassify during his first term, but did not do so because he was asked to do so as a favor by then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, whose rights he stripped today.
