Vladimir Putin has revealed who wants to win the US presidential elections in November .
Speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum, he said Democrat Kamala Harris was Russia's preferred choice.
He said that her laugh is "quite infectious ".
It may come as a surprise as he has previously appeared friendly with Donald Trump, the Republican nominee and former US president.
But earlier this year, when Biden was still the Democratic nominee, Putin said he preferred Trump because Biden was a more predictable "old school" politician.
Today, he said, while Biden recommended support for Harris, Russia will do the same.
His comments come a day after the Biden administration seized Kremlin-run websites, indicted two Russian state media employees and issued new sanctions in a fight against what it sees as Russian efforts to spread disinformation ahead of the election.
In his speech, Putin also criticized France's arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov.
The Russian president said he did not understand why France had taken legal action against the Russian-born social media boss and said the French moves had a "selective character".
