A man was allegedly shot to death by his dog after going on a hunting trip. Last weekend, new father Ozgur Gevrekoglu had been on a hunting trip with friends in the Kizlan Plateau in Turkey.
The trip had been a success and the group was getting ready to go home when a tragic incident occurred. Gevrekoglu was allegedly walking his dog into his car when he was shot. He had become a father just 10 days before his hunting trip.
According to reports, the 32-year-old had left a loaded gun in the car and his dog touched the trigger with its paw, causing the gun to go off.
The bullet hit Gevrekoglu at close range, killing him instantly. He was then taken to Alacam State Hospital, before being transferred to another facility.
Keeping a firearm properly stored is absolutely vital to safety, according to the British Shooting and Conservation Association.
To prevent a shotgun from firing, the barrel of the gun must be kept down at all times.
