The super drug cartel is destroyed: 49 arrested by Europol in Europe and Dubai
The super drug cartel is destroyed

Europol has announced on Monday that it has destroyed a super drug cartel through an operation during which several dozen people were arrested in Europe and the Emirates.

The pan-European operation also involved law enforcement agencies from Dubai and focused on disrupting the chain of command and logistics infrastructure of the traffickers, who operated in France, Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium.

In the 4 countries in question, 43 arrests were made, while 6 other people were arrested in Dubai. Europol considers the arrested as "important persons" of drug trafficking.

At different stages of the operation, codenamed "Light of the Desert", it is reported that more than 30 tons of cocaine were seized.

The police authorities do not disclose the nationality of those arrested, but specify that the organization fulfilled a third of the cocaine market in Europe.

The action of the law enforcement forces was crowned after an agreement reached in September for the intensification of cooperation between Europol and the authorities in the United Arab Emirates.
