"Kosovo-Serbia tensions, Putin's ace in the heart of Europe".

"Kosovo-Serbia tensions, Putin's ace in the heart of Europe".

This is the title of the article published by the prestigious German media, Die Welt, which writes about the dangers posed to the old continent by a state in the Western Balkans.

Journalist Carolina Drueten writes that Serbia is threatening Kosovo and counting on Russia's support in escalating the conflict. In the midst of the war in Ukraine, this opens up new strategic options for the Kremlin.

"The conflict between Serbia and Kosovo risks escalating again. One person in particular benefits from the instability: Russian President Vladimir Putin. He is the most important ally of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on the issue of Kosovo. Putin wants to destabilize Europe from within. The Western Balkans offers him the opportunity to do this continuously," writes the German newspaper "Die Welt".

The German newspaper further writes that this could also be dangerous for the European Union, which surrounds the Western Balkans region. As if to confirm the article of "Die Welt", the Russian ambassador in Belgrade, Aleksandar Boçan-Kharchenko said that Serbia can rely on Russia for the situation in Kosovo and noted that both countries will continue to coordinate their positions on this matter.

Putin's diplomat added that Moscow will continue to defend Serbia in the international arena, specifically in the Security Council of the United Nations as a permanent member, and asked for a final solution accepted by Kosovo as well. Among other things, he accused the West, claiming that it is using the recent tensions to put pressure on Serbia to impose sanctions on Russia.
