Zelensky meets Biden

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, arrived this Wednesday at the White House, in Washington. He was received by US President Joe Biden together with his wife Jill, in a special ceremony. This is the first visit abroad for the Ukrainian president since the attack on Ukraine by Russia in February of this year.

A red carpet was rolled out in his honor, while the two flags of the USA and Ukraine stood side by side. After shaking hands, the parties posed for a photo.

The Ukrainian leader called the invitation to visit the USA a great honor and thanked President Biden for the contribution his country has made to Ukraine during these months of war.

Among other things, Zelensky awarded a military award to the American president for the bravery shown in these difficult moments. Biden accepted this award with great pleasure.

For his part, the Head of the White House said that the US supports peace in Ukraine and told Zelensky that his country has surprised the world with the resistance shown.

Then they went to the premises of the Oval Office to hold a meeting that is expected to last about 2 hours. They will then appear in a joint press conference.

Zelensky arrived from Ukraine at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland earlier today.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's visit to the United States comes as the US Congress is expected to vote on the budget, which will include a $45 billion aid package for Ukraine, and Washington's preparations to give Kiev the advanced system of missiles, 'Patriot'.
