Trilateral meeting in Brussels, Vucic: The talks ended without success

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said that the talks with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, ended without success "in the sense of finding a clear path towards the normalization of relations".

"We all have our proposals, the Albanians have theirs, we have ours. In the end, we as Serbia have accepted the compromise proposal of the EU. Kurti did not want to accept it. The meeting is over," Vucic told reporters.

"It is clear that Kurti is simply avoiding the formation of the Association of Serbian [majority] municipalities. This is the essence of everything. Serbia does not run away from its obligations", he added.

The two leaders met on Thursday in Brussels - for the first time in more than four months.

Kurti and Vucic previously held separate meetings with the mediators of the process, the head of foreign policy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, and the EU envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak.

"Today we will see if they are ready to take responsibility," Borrell wrote on the X platform, formerly known as Twitter.

According to the EU announcement, the topic of the tripartite meeting is the implementation of the Agreement for the normalization of relations, reached orally between Kurti and Vucic in February./ REL
